Barton Lodge Dog Hotel Limited
Terms and Conditions applicable from 19 January 2026.
Definitions
you/your/yourself: the customer
we/us/site: Barton Lodge Dog Hotel Limited, provider of the service.
check in: the first day of the period of boarding.
check out: the last day of the period of boarding when you collect your pet.
pet: dog, and vice versa.
Pre-booking visit
- Where your dog will be joining other dogs in our care, you should attend a pre-booking assessment (walk around) so we can see how they react to other dogs and staff. This also provides an opportunity for you to discuss our service and the booking process.
- There are certain breeds, and types of dog that we cannot accept into our hotel. These are listed on our website.
Bookings
- A fully completed booking form must be completed, and deposit paid within 3 days otherwise your booking request will be cancelled.
- Payments received via online methods may incur a 2.5% surcharge.
- Where you have opted to bring your own food, this must be brought when you check in your pet. If you forget to bring enough of your preferred food, but you have supplied details of their food, we will supply this and charge you accordingly.
- Dogs must have a collar, lead and identification tag – no choke chains are permitted.
- Dogs must not be aggressive to staff or other dogs.
- Dogs must have their own toys, and we recommend you bring their own bed too, if practicable. This is so they have familiar items with them.
- Dogs need not be spayed or neutered, but we may have to restrict bookings for dogs that have not been spayed or neutered.
Shared kennel bookings
- You may choose to have your dogs boarded together in the same kennel at your own risk, but you must state on the booking form that you agree to this.
- Should they become aggressive with each other, we will separate them and board them in different kennels, where possible. You may be charged at the appropriate daily rate and invoiced accordingly.
- If there is no space to board your dog(s) separately, we will call your emergency contact to see if they can receive the other dog(s). There will be no refund of accommodation costs for these circumstances.
- We may use muzzles and/or dog catching devices to restrain a dog if it becomes aggressive.
Vaccinations
- We must receive evidence of vaccinations which have been administered within the following time scales but not within 2 weeks of your check in:
Canine parvovirus : covering the 3 years prior to the end of your booking
Canine distemper : covering the 3 years prior to the end of your booking
Infectious hepatitis : covering the 3 years prior to the end of your booking
Leptospirosis : covering the 12 months prior to the end of your booking
Kennel Cough : covering the 12 months prior to the end of your booking
If you do not bring evidence, we will be unable to accept your booking and there will be no refunds.
You agree that we may ask your vet for confirmation of vaccinations.
Fees and charges
- Our fees:
Daily accommodation charge with food provided by yourself
£40 a day for 1 room with one dog
£20 a day supplement for each additional dog sharing the same room.
Daily accommodation charge with food provided by us
£43 a day for 1 room with one dog
£21.50 a day supplement for each additional dog sharing the same room.
The number of dogs allowed in each room will depend on their size
Significant damage caused by your pet to our property (room/unit/kennel) as evidenced with cctv footage : Up to £100.
Significant damage may include damage to 50% or more of the beds/cots and mattresses, partial removal of any part of the floor, and damage to doors that prevents them opening or closing.
Veterinary costs incurred by us if your pet is injured or becomes ill : dependent on the vet
- Accommodation costs are chargeable per day including part days, and not per night. For example, a pet who is checked in on Monday and is collected on the Friday of the same week, will be charged for 5 days at the appropriate rate shown above.
- A 50% deposit is required within 3 days of completing a booking form.
The remaining balance must be received on the first day of boarding (check in) at the latest.
The boarding fees are due for the full booking period even if you decide to collect your dog(s) before the agreed due date of departure, and any additional fees must be settled in full upon collection of your dog.
- Payment methods:
Payments may be made using either of the following methods:
- cash (sterling)
- credit or debit card
- bank transfer
- online payment link, but may incur a 2.5% surcharge
Cancelation rights
- For bookings received online (via email) or taken over the phone and confirmed, and deposit has been paid, you have 14 days from receipt of your deposit to cancel your booking (cooling off period), unless you have waived your right to this.
- Deposits are non-refundable outside the appropriate 14 day cooling off period (above). At our discretion, we may allow a deposit to be transferred to a future booking provided the booking is made within 2 months of the cancellation, and Barton Lodge Dog Hotel is still trading.
- If we need to cancel your booking, you will receive a refund of all fees.
Health & wellbeing
- You agree that your pet(s) are free from infectious disease at the time they are brought to us.
- You must notify us if your dog becomes ill within one month prior to boarding.
- If your pet is believed to be experiencing an infectious illness when you arrive, we will be unable to board your dog, and you will be asked to leave the site. No refunds will be made.
- All medication and instructions for administering, must be handed to staff when checking in, and must be in its original packaging.
We are unable to accept dogs that require injections, or that require blood samples to be taken eg for blood sugar monitoring. - You agree that staff at Barton Lodge Dog Hotel are permitted to administer medication to your dog.
- Barton Lodge may call a veterinarian on your behalf to carry out treatment of your dog as and when required. This may be your own vet, but we may have to use our own vet to ensure prompt treatment. You will be liable for any expenses incurred in doing so, and these must be paid to Barton Lodge Dog Hotel upon collection of your dog.
- If, during your pet’s stay with us, there is evidence of external parasites such as fleas, ticks or lice, the dog must be treated with an appropriate product authorised by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) and licensed for use in the UK. Treatment will be discussed with a vet before we give it to your dog.
- Dogs will be groomed according to your requirements on your booking from. We do not offer bathing at this time. However, if we feel their cleanliness is impacting on their health and welfare, we may provide a complementary shower.
First Aid
- There may be times when your dog experiences a minor injury that requires first aid. To avoid complications from minor injuries it is expected that you will allow us to carry out first aid as necessary.
Provision of food
- When we have been asked to provide food, we will provide Bakers dry food for adult dogs or equivalent. We may add or remove further food choices according to availability and cost.
Aggression
- If during your pets stay, they become aggressive and we have been unsuccessful at calming them, we will contact you or your emergency contact, to arrange collection. There will be no refund of accommodation costs.
- We may use muzzles and/or dog catching devices to restrain a dog if it becomes aggressive.
Abandonment
- If your dog is not collected on the date of the agreed checkout, we will try and contact you using all contact methods to confirm your plans for collection. If we do not hear from you within 2 days following the date of the planned checkout, we will conclude that you have abandoned your dog.
- You grant us authority to rehome or surrender your dog to a rescue where you have abandoned your dog.
- Costs that will be charged to you include £43 for each day beyond the agreed checkout date, and any and all costs associated with rehoming your dog
Liability
- Barton Lodge Dog Hotel is a limited company
- There are inherent risks of injury to your dog when boarding at our hotel. These include injury during play with other dogs, stress, or illness. Our site has a variety of trees, bushes and surfaces that may cause injury. During your pre-booking visit to our site, this is an opportunity for you to determine the level of risk this poses. Whilst every effort is made to reduce the risk (pruning and lopping of trees and bushes), fencing to reduce entry of wildlife into the site, and wide open areas for running, we cannot accept responsibility for injuries caused by the action of your dog.
- We will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to any pet(s) belongings including but not limited to toys, beddings and other accessories during their stay with us. All belongings are left with their pets at the owners own risk.
Media and photography
- We do not use images of you or your dogs for marketing or publicity. They are used to provide you with an update as to your dogs welfare.
- Where dogs exercise together, your dog may appear in videos sent to other uses of our service. By boarding your dog with us, you agree to this.
